Paruppu Payasam/ Moong dhal Kheer / Pasi paruppu payasam

Paruppu Payasam:

    Paruppu Payasam is a traditional payasam recipe. All my family members love this paruppu payasam very much. This can be made with or without coconut milk.It is healthy too. If you are arranging for a vegetarian feast then dont miss this one. This will give a nice finish to the feast.Now let us see how to make this paruppu payasam.


Ingredients:


  1. Moong dhal / Pasi paruppu - 1/4 cup
  2. Sago/Javvarisi - 2 tbsp
  3. Jaggery - 1 cup
  4. cardamom - 3 nos
  5. coconut - 1 tbsp(finely chopped)
  6. Ghee - 2 tbsp
  7. Cashew - 6 nos

Method:


  • Soak sago for atleast 1 hr.
  • Dry roast moong dhal .
  • Cook moong dhal and sago by adding 2 cups of water.
  • Add a pinch of salt to it.




     
  • Let it be cooked meanwhile add jaggery in a pan and add 1 cup of water ,dissolve the jaggery and filter it to remove the impurities.
  • When moong dhal being cooked add the jaggery syrup and allow it to boil.
  • Mean while add ghee in a kadai and fry cashews and coconut and add it to the boiling dhal.
  • Crush the cardamom and add to it.




  • When it gets thick switch off the stove and serve hot.
