Paruppu Payasam:
Paruppu Payasam is a traditional payasam recipe. All my family members love this paruppu payasam very much. This can be made with or without coconut milk.It is healthy too. If you are arranging for a vegetarian feast then dont miss this one. This will give a nice finish to the feast.Now let us see how to make this paruppu payasam.
Ingredients:
- Moong dhal / Pasi paruppu - 1/4 cup
- Sago/Javvarisi - 2 tbsp
- Jaggery - 1 cup
- cardamom - 3 nos
- coconut - 1 tbsp(finely chopped)
- Ghee - 2 tbsp
- Cashew - 6 nos
Method:
- Soak sago for atleast 1 hr.
- Dry roast moong dhal .
- Cook moong dhal and sago by adding 2 cups of water.
- Add a pinch of salt to it.
- Let it be cooked meanwhile add jaggery in a pan and add 1 cup of water ,dissolve the jaggery and filter it to remove the impurities.
- When moong dhal being cooked add the jaggery syrup and allow it to boil.
- Mean while add ghee in a kadai and fry cashews and coconut and add it to the boiling dhal.
- Crush the cardamom and add to it.
- When it gets thick switch off the stove and serve hot.
