Simple Dhal Curry :
Simple Dhal curry is the recipe which goes well with steamed rice and chappathi. The method of making this dhal curry is easy. Here we are going to pressure cook all the ingredients and seasoning is done later.
My kids love to have this curry with melted ghee and potato fry.
Here is the recipe method.
Ingredients:
- Thoor dhal - 1 cup
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Shallots(small onions) - 10 nos
- Tomato - 1
- Green Chilli - 2 nos
- Turmeric powder - 1 pinch'
- Asafoetida - 1 pinch
- Salt - as required
Tempering:
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- urad dhal - 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Dry Chillies - 4 nos
- Curry leaves and coriander leaves for garnish
Method:
- Wash thoor dhal , peeled garlic , shallots , tomato and green chillies.
- Take a pressure cooker and thoor dhal, peeled garlic, shallots , tomato, green chillies, turmeric powder, asafoetida and salt.
- Add required amount of water in the cooker and pressure cook for 3 - 4 whistles.
- Now add oil in a pan and allow mustard seeds and urad dhal to temper.
- Add dry chillies,cumin seeds and curry leaves and switch off the stove.
- Add this seasoning to the pressure cooked dhal.
- Now garnish with coriander leaves.
